We have compiled the best minds in the industry where collectively our mission is to do performance sportswear in a way that has never been done before—creating products that are genuinely unique not just in performance but with a sustainability focus. Jamie Hunt, the co-founder of 2XU, whose prominent role was product innovation, brings his wealth of knowledge to Pressio. Pressio is creating revolutionary yarn technologies, working with some of the world's leading fabric companies to develop new combinations of yarns and knit structures. He is known as one of a handful of the most creative sports textile engineers globally in the industry. We utilize recycled yarns from some of the world's most accomplished suppliers, fully traceable via the World Recycle Standard. Alongside the latest in dying techniques to minimize and eliminate fabric dyes from entering our waterways. We are intently focused on every collection to develop this methodology further. We promise to lead the industry in achieving it from a sustainability standpoint while delivering genuinely world-leading products in performance.
The scientific community has taken an unwavering approach to conclude that many aspects of sporting compression are unproven. Pressio as a brand does not disregard this notion. The fact is that most compression garments are not made of true compression materials and apply the name merely to market the product. Furthermore, most studies were using sub-optimal compression pieces and did not meet the parameters which we, as a brand, see as critical.
In our 20 years of research which included working with some of the world's largest sporting testing labs, over 90% of compression brands were found not to have a graduated profile. In addition, 50% were found not to have the power that is needed to achieve true benefits. This is only the start. Our garments are made for sport, as there is no point in having sporting apparel that restricts movement and produces excess heat. We found the true art to be in the manufacturing process, meeting the graduated fit and power profile in a way that will add to the athlete's comfort. We are in the unique position of being able to achieve this equilibrium.
In all studies we have undertaken throughout the testing of compression garments, we have results that prove our claims are reliable and valid. As a brand, we are in our infancy. However, we have the world's leading team in developing compression and sporting technology. Our teams have produced compression fabrications and finished garments similar to parameters (and exceeding) successful studies, validating our claims.
Our claims include:
Research is a fundamental aspect of Pressio product development. We understand how to build world-leading fabrications and construct them into unique products. The final step is independent validation.
Our key research partner is La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. La Trobe is heavily invested in performance sport and research by developing their $90 Million dollar Sports Park. In their cutting-edge Sports Park facility and labs, innovation in physiology, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, and rehabilitation of the athletes are at the centre of their focus. Leading our research partnership at La Trobe University is Associate Professor Matt Driller and Dr. Lachlan James. Associate Professor Driller is one of the most published researchers in the field of compression garments for athletes. He has worked alongside some of the world's most well-known compression brands and has >10 years' experience as a recovery specialist with elite athletes. Dr. James is a researcher and lecturer with a focus on strength-power assessment and development. Dr. James has 10 years of strength and conditioning, and applied sports science industry experience.
Associate Professor Driller and Dr. James supervise Ph.D. scholar, Alana Leabeater, whose role is fully dedicated to researching the effects of compression garments on different aspects of human physiology, biomechanics, and performance. The La Trobe research team are working in close collaboration with Pressio to understand and validate the effects compression has on athletes and contribute to the development and design of our products to ensure our compression garments remain evidence-based. Our team has already started working alongside the team at La Trobe University, commencing a long-term partnership, leading to the scientific backing of what will be the world's most advanced compression fabrication.
The La Trobe University research team are currently engaged in several projects with Pressio to understand further and validate the effects compression has on human performance. Our team has already started working alongside the team at La Trobe University, commencing a long-term partnership, leading to the scientific backing of what will be the world's most advanced compression fabrication. Some of the current and future areas of study include:
Here at Pressio, we know compression is one of the key aspects of athletic improvement. We desire to further cement this in the eyes of the consumer and academic establishments.
